Flatiron, named after the famed Flatiron building, is known for its office buildings, converted residential lofts, and soaring high rises. A destination for both professionals and families, Flatiron combines the New York charm of a busy metropolis with the hip scene of a young trendsetter. It’s this eclectic appeal that sets Flatiron apart.

Local Lifestyle

From the iconic Flatiron Building to towers like the Woolworth Building and New York Life building, standing on the site of the old Madison Square Garden, this neighborhood is a shining example of New York architecture. When viewed all together, it’s the hip feel of Flatiron that gives it a true sense of flair. Between the statuesque condominiums and the upscale shopping experiences, Flatiron is a true testament to the things that Manhattan residents love and the lives they lead.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

When it comes to food and fun, Flatiron has long prided itself on choices for residents and visitors alike. Whether it’s the upscale and unforgettable 11 Madison or the historic and iconic original Shake Shack, a Flatiron landmark, the dining scene gives this area a unique style all its own. Sit-down dining is a big part of the Flatiron experience, too, and steakhouses like COTE and the beloved Gramercy Tavern provide that memorable meal. Of course, there’s always Eataly for the diner looking for a classic New York Italian meal and more!

Shopping in Flatiron is another major experience. A shopper can spend the day at Intermix for upscale women’s clothes, head to ABC Carpet & Home for beautiful fabrics and unique furnishings, and grab some yoga equipment at Paragon Sports before running to Jacadi for baby clothes. Then, on the way home, there are stops at Homenature and Design Within Reach for furniture.

Things to Do

As mentioned, Flatiron’s namesake, the Flatiron Building, is one of the area’s most iconic locations — not just for its historical relevance but its magnificence. Many visitors flock to this destination to see its unique layout and snap a picture.

On 5th Avenue, Madison Square Park has all the beauty of nature right in the midst of so much city. This stunning photography hotspot features a fountain and some amazing cityscape views. Named for the fourth United States President, James Madison, this conservancy is a point of pride in Flatiron. Sprawled over six acres, the majestic landscape is on full display, complete with an arboretum, sanctuary, and an open-air museum with seasonally changing art.

For those with a sweet tooth wanting to mix hunger with art, head to the Anita La Mamma del Gelato to grab a treat before heading to the Fotografiska Museum, which displays photo exhibits inside a beautiful Renaissance-style gallery.
